This exhibition is in support of The Trevor Project and Gender Justice Nevada.
We intend to help raise awareness of the need within the LBGTQ+ teen community of Southern Nevada through art.
The Light Within consists of a variety of paintings, sculptures, photography, digital, and mixed media works by creatives that best represent their medium and supports the awareness of preventing teen suicide within the LBGTQ+ community in support of The Trevor Project and Gender Justice Nevada.
Executive Director
Sy Bernabei has been a social justice warrior for over 20 years. They have worked with AIDS Project Los Angeles, Aid for AIDS of Nevada, and the LGBT Center of Southern Nevada. They are dedicated to an intersectional and inclusive approach to teaching and community mobilizing. They identify as queer, trans masculine, and non-binary and use all pronouns. They have worked as an outreach worker, case manager, and educator with HIV+ people, gender diverse communities and LGBTQ+ youth.
They have a degree in secondary education which they use to train and empower allies and people in the gender diverse community in using their voice as a tool to increase visibility and understanding. Sy enjoys travelling, dismantling the cis-tem, and embarring her kids on social media.
Vegas Born Anthropologist & Urban Leader dedicated to Las Vegas' Cultural Arts, Former City of Las Vegas Arts Commissioner and PhD candidate in History at UNLV.
Los Angeles-based attorney and independent curator.
Susan Schwartz is a lawyer in Los Angeles. She holds a Master of Arts degree in art business from Sotheby's Institute at the Drucker School of Management in Claremont, CA, and practiced art law for many years in Los Angeles. She is one of the co-founders of artistscontract.com, a website that allows artists to draft their own contracts for use in the sale of their works.

Community Arts Advocates of Nevada, a collective who supports creative individuals by endeavoring to connect artists with a variety of organizations, businesses, and patrons who share their passion.
